We are based out in Sonadih, Raipur, at the site where K. Kalyan Chakravarthy and K.S. Rao manage things. It’s a bit of an industrial setting, which makes sense given that Lafarge India Pvt Ltd deals with cement. The office is more of a practical hub for the plant operations than a typical city office. Being in Sonadih means we are close to the actual production, so there is always dust in the air and the sound of machinery in the background. It’s not a nine-to-five kind of place; things are happening here at all hours. Kalyan and the rest of the crew have a system that keeps the trucks moving and the orders filled. We drink a lot of chai and spend a lot of time on the phone. The weather in Chhattisgarh can be harsh, especially out in the open areas like this, but we’re used to it by now. It’s a no-nonsense environment. We don’t have fancy meeting rooms, just a table where we figure out the logistics for the week. It’s honest work, and we’ve been doing it for a long time. People around here know us as the reliable spot for getting things sorted. We just keep the wheels turning day after day.
