This part of the operation is based at the Sonadih Cement Plant in Baloda Bazar. The person in charge of this specific spot is B.N. Mishra. We are located at DE-4 within the plant grounds. It’s deep in the industrial heart of Chhattisgarh. Working here is different from working in a city like Raipur. Everything is about the plant. The roads around here are mostly used by heavy trucks carrying material back and forth. It’s a lot of grey and brown tones around the site. Our office is just a small part of the massive layout of Lafarge India Ltd here. We don’t have a lot of visitors who aren't already working for the company or hauling stuff. The quarters and offices are built for utility. You won't find any paintings on the walls or soft carpets. It’s just heavy-duty floors and sturdy desks. We keep track of the daily output and make sure the logistics are moving. The weather stays dry most of the year, which is good for the cement but tough on the people. We spend our days managing the paperwork that comes with such a big facility. It’s honest work. We are part of the landscape here in Raipur district. People in the nearby villages all know the plant. It’s the main thing out this way. We just keep things running from DE-4. It is a long day usually, but we are used to the rhythm.
