Century Cement

We've been out here in Baikunth for quite a while now. If you know this part of Raipur, you know it gets really hot in the summer months. The dust from the road settles on everything, and you just get used to it. Our place is right in the middle of the district, and most of us live nearby. It’s a busy spot with trucks coming and going at all hours. We don’t have any fancy office furniture or big glass windows. It is just a practical site where things get done every day. In the mornings, the sun comes up over the Raipur plains and everything looks a bit orange for a while. Usually, someone is making tea in the back and we sit around for a few minutes before the real work starts. People from the surrounding villages walk in or come on their cycles. It’s not a quiet place, but it feels like home to us. You can hear the machines humming in the distance constantly. We keep the registers updated and try to stay organized, even though there’s always a lot of paper moving around. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just wait it out or find something else to do. It’s a simple life here at Century Cement. We don't worry about being fancy. We just focus on the day ahead of us and getting back home to our families in the evening when the heat finally dies down.
