Our place is right on Navi Peth, house number 534. If you know Shrivardhan, you know it’s a place where everyone kind of knows what their neighbor is planting. We set up Shrivardhan Krushi Vikas Producer Company Limited to bring some structure to what we were already doing. It is mostly about the local crops here. We spend a lot of time talking to the folks around Navi Peth about their yields. Some years the rain is too much, other years it isn't enough. We just deal with it. The office is really just a room where we keep our stuff and meet up. It gets a bit crowded when everyone shows up at once after a long day in the fields. We aren't trying to be some giant corporation. We are just local people who know the land. The dirt under our fingernails is real, and the worry about the market prices is real too. We handle a lot of the back-and-forth work that individual farmers don't have time for. It involves a lot of walking around and checking on things. Sometimes we get the paperwork wrong and have to fix it, but that's just how it goes. We don’t have fancy speeches. We just want to make sure the farming around Shrivardhan stays viable for the next generation. It’s a slow process, but we are here every day. Actually, we just want to make sure the work gets done and everyone gets a fair shake.
