Utareswar Farmers Producer Company Limited operates out of Dijabar Sahoo’s place in Jhanjhalia, Kakatpur. We aren't a big corporation with a tall building. We’re just a group of farmers who needed a way to organize ourselves better. Jhanjhalia is where we do most of our work. Being in Kakatpur is good because we are close to the fields and the people we work with. We spend most of our time at the office handling the small details that come with farming. It’s mostly about making sure everyone has what they need for the next planting season. Dijabar Sahoo’s spot is where we keep our files and meet up to talk. It's a very casual place. We might be sitting on the floor or around a small table, just trying to sort out the logistics of the harvest. The farming life in Kakatpur can be tough, but doing it together as a producer company makes it a little easier to manage. We don't use any fancy talk or have big marketing plans. We just focus on the crops and making sure the farmers get paid what they should. It’s a very local thing, run by people who have lived here forever.
