Amagonasika Farmers Producer Company

Over here at Tangaranikhata, specifically at plot 1456/1823, we’ve set up the Amagonasika Farmers Producer Company. It’s located at Sri Bagal Charan Brahma’s place, which isn't too hard to find if you know the area well. We are just a group of local farmers who decided it was better to work as one group than to try and do everything alone in our own small patches. It gets pretty quiet out here most of the time, but the work is constant regardless of the day. We spend most of our time dealing with the land and trying to manage what we grow. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have our meetings where we can, often just sitting around talking about what’s happening in the market or with the water supply. Dealing with the khata numbers and plot registrations was a huge headache for us, but we finally got through it. Most of us have been farming since we were kids, so we know the soil around here pretty well. We aren’t trying to be some big corporate entity; we’re just neighbors. Bagal Charan helps keep everything in order at his house. There’s always someone coming or going with a question about fertilizers or the next harvest. It’s a bit messy sometimes, and things don’t always go according to plan, but we stick together. We don’t really have any big slogans or anything like that. We just want to make sure the work we do actually counts.
