We started this company because we wanted to do something together as farmers here in the Laikera area. Most of us have been working the land in Sarangloi and Sanagloi for a long time, just like our fathers did before us. It gets hard sometimes when you try to do everything on your own, so we figured if we pooled our efforts under the name Hatianala Farmer Producer Companylimited, it might make things a bit easier for everyone involved. We operate out of Nalini Behera’s place for now. It isn't a fancy office or anything like that, just a spot where we can meet and talk about our crops or what we need for the next season. Jharsuguda has its own set of challenges with the weather and the markets, but we are all locals who understand how things work here. We spend our days out in the fields and then come together to handle the paperwork or figure out where to sell what we’ve grown. There are no big bosses here, just people who know what it’s like to have dirt under their fingernails. We keep things pretty simple. If someone needs help or if we have a surplus of seeds, we just talk it through. It’s about making sure the farms in our little corner of the world keep going. We don’t have any big speeches, we just want to keep farming and make sure our families are okay.
