Yogesh Decorators & Doke Mangal Kendra

We've been operating out of Old Sangavi on the 4th Cross of Kuvempu Main Road for quite some time. This isn't a desk job. Most of my time is spent hauling bamboo poles, rolls of cloth, and heavy decorative pieces from the warehouse to the trucks. We handle a lot of the local functions and weddings around here. It gets really hectic during the marriage season, and we often work through the night to get a stage ready. My clothes are usually covered in dust or bits of glitter. We have a lot of different colored drapes and some old chairs that have seen a lot of parties. The shop itself is mostly a storage space filled with stacks of carpets and lighting fixtures. Sometimes a lightbulb breaks or a piece of fabric gets a tear, and we have to fix it on the fly. It’s a bit disorganized at times, especially when we have three different events on the same weekend. My crew is a good bunch of guys, though we argue about the best way to set up a tent sometimes. The traffic on Kuvempu Main Road can be a nightmare when we’re trying to load the vehicles. People in Old Sangavi know us well, so they just drop by when they have something coming up. It’s a lot of manual labor and sweat, but seeing a hall completely transformed is a good feeling at the end of the day.
