Bandhutwa Fataka Mart

Our shop is located on Shivane Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road. Dealing with crackers means we are very busy during certain months of the year. The rest of the time, things are a bit quieter around here. We spend those days organizing the storage and making sure everything is kept dry and safe. It is a serious job because of what we sell. The building isn't very new, but it serves us well for what we do. People come from all over the neighborhood when festival season starts. You can hear the traffic on Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road all day long. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs when there are no customers. We talk about the weather or how the local market is doing. We have different types of sparklers and ground spinners stacked up on the wooden counters. It smells like paper and cardboard in here. We try to keep the aisles clear so people don't trip, but it's hard when the big boxes arrive. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the packaging. We don't do much advertising, people just know we are here. If you need something for a celebration, this is where we work. It’s been our spot for a long time. We just focus on getting through the busy days without too much trouble. We don't have a website or anything, just this physical shop where we meet everyone. There are always boxes stacked up near the entrance, but we manage.
