Chimon Foods is tucked away at Survey No. 42/2 in Ganesh Nagar, over in Wadgaon Sheri. It’s a residential-cum-commercial sort of area near Somnath Nagar, so there are always neighbors walking by and kids playing in the street. Our place is where we handle all the food stuff, from the raw ingredients coming in to the final packs going out. The smell around here is usually pretty good, depending on what we are making that day. It’s not a massive factory like the ones you see on TV, just a practical space where we have our kitchen setups and storage. The floors have to be cleaned constantly because we are dealing with food, so someone is always walking around with a mop. It gets quite crowded when the delivery vans arrive and we have to load them up in the narrow lane. We’ve had to learn how to move quickly to avoid blocking the whole road for the neighbors who live right next door. It’s a family-run feeling type of place, and we often have tea together during the afternoon break. We don't have a big marketing team or anything; we just focus on making things that people like to eat. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting bags and boxes, but it keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty fast. We just want to get the food out while it's fresh.
