Wadekar Sons has been operating out of the Millennium Market in Bibwewadi for a good long while. You can find us right on the Ring Road at number 686. The market is a hectic place, especially in the early hours of the morning when the trucks are arriving. Our spot is usually filled with the smell of jasmine and marigolds, which is the best part of the job. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s always someone from the family around. We don’t have a polished office; it’s basically just a space filled with buckets, wire, and heaps of flowers. Our clothes usually have petals stuck to them by noon. We’ve seen the market change a lot over the years, but the work we do stays pretty much the same. It’s all about timing and making sure the flowers don't wilt before they are needed. It’s hard on the hands and the legs, standing all day, but we are used to it. We don't spend money on fancy ads; people usually find us just by walking through the market or hearing about us from someone else. We keep things straightforward here. If we say we’ll have it ready, we usually do. It’s just us, the flowers, and the daily bustle of Bibwewadi. We don’t try to be anything we’re not, just folks who know their way around a floral arrangement. Sometimes we even have to deal with the stray cows wandering in.
