We've been at 124 Jm Road for a while now. It's right near Badikaman, so it gets pretty busy around here. Mostly we handle food stuff. It’s a lot of lifting heavy sacks and checking the dates on everything. The shop isn't fancy at all. Just some wooden shelves and a plain counter. My cousin helps out when he can, but usually, it's just a couple of us making sure everything is where it should be. We deal with regular groceries, things people need for their kitchens every day. Some days the delivery trucks come late and it gets a bit chaotic with the crates blocking the door. You learn to live with the mess. The floor is old stone and needs a sweep every hour because of the dust from the road. People stop by on their way home from work to grab a few things. We know most of the faces by now. It’s not a big corporate thing, just a place to get your supplies without any fuss. Sometimes we run out of things if the supplier has a bad week. That happens. We just write it down on a scrap of paper and try to get it in the next load. It’s hard work, especially in the heat, but it keeps us busy. The fan in the corner makes a clicking sound that we’ve stopped noticing. That’s just how it is here. We keep the registers going and try to stay organized enough for people to find stuff.
