Shreenath Vegitable

Our days at Shreenath Vegitable start way before the sun is even up. Being located at Khondhwa Yamuna Niws, S No 15-1-1, Kamathe Nagar, we have to get things ready very early. The crates arrive with whatever is fresh from the market, and we spend the first few hours sorting through everything by hand. It’s a lot of lifting and moving heavy wooden boxes around. Some days the tomatoes look really good, and other days the leafy greens are the best ones we have. We just put out what we get from the suppliers. The ground stays a bit wet from washing the vegetables to keep them from wilting in the afternoon heat. Kamathe Nagar is a busy area with lots of people moving around, so by eight in the morning, the noise is everywhere. Customers come in looking for the best pick of the day for their families, and we try to help them find what they need for their cooking. We don't use any fancy tricks; the vegetables speak for themselves. If something isn't good enough, we just put it aside. It’s a messy job sometimes, with dirt from the potatoes and skins from the onions all over the floor, but we sweep up when we get a break. Shreenath Vegitable is a simple place. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy to show off. We just focus on getting the produce out and helping the local residents of Kamathe Nagar. It is a long day for us.
