Down in Baner Gaon 131, we spend most of our time dealing with poles, heavy cloth, and lots of rope. Being a mandap decorator means your hands are always a bit rough from moving metal pipes around. We have a lot of stuff stored in the warehouse. There are chairs stacked high and different colored curtains for weddings or small religious functions. When a booking comes, we load up the truck very early in the morning. It takes a few hours to get everything standing up right and looking straight. Sometimes the weather doesn't help, especially when it’s windy and we have to secure the fabric extra tight so it doesn't fly away. We aren't big talkers, we just get the work done. The team has been together for a while now, so everyone knows which pole goes where without much shouting. It’s hard work, especially in the heat, but seeing a bare ground turn into a proper event space is something we enjoy. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. Most of the business happens over the phone or right there at the site. People in the neighborhood know where to find us if they have a family function coming up. We keep our equipment clean, though the trucks get muddy often. Shree Sainath Mandap Decorators is basically just us working through the season, making sure the setups are sturdy and ready on time for the guests to arrive.
