Rounak Mangal Kendra

This place is usually loud because of the traffic outside on Sinhgad Road, which never seems to stop. We spend a lot of time just moving stacks of chairs from one side of the hall to the other. There is always a lot of cleaning to do because people leave behind all sorts of things after an event. The fans stay spinning all day to keep the air moving, but it still gets warm when there are a lot of people inside. I usually stand by the entrance near the Lokmat Press landmark to help people find the way since the road can be confusing for visitors. My shoes are usually worn out from walking back and forth across the floor all day. We have some old cupboards where we keep the light bulbs and extra wiring. It isn't a glamorous job, just a lot of checking if the lights work and making sure the water is filled up. Sometimes I sit on the steps outside in the evening just to catch a bit of a breeze before we lock up the main gates. It's a busy corner of Vadgaon Sheri and we've been seeing it change over the years. We just stay here and handle whatever party or meeting is scheduled next on our calendar for the week.
