Working out of Anand Nagar at Shubham Park 8, we deal with two main things: keeping the lights on and making things look bright for celebrations. The generator side of the business is mostly about maintenance and making sure the machines actually start when there is a power cut. They are heavy and loud, but people are always happy to see us when their electricity goes out during a big storm. Then there is the decoration side. We spend a lot of time untangling long strings of fairy lights and setting up floodlights for weddings or local functions. My team and I are often out late at night packing up equipment after an event is over. It can be tiring work, especially climbing ladders and stringing wires across high ceilings or trees in the wind. We’ve had this spot for several years now. The office is mostly filled with coils of wire, spare bulbs, and some tools. It’s not the neatest place because we are always moving gear in and out for different jobs. Sometimes a bulb burns out right in the middle of a party and we have to rush over to fix it. That’s just how it goes in this line of work. We just try to make sure everything is plugged in right and nothing shorts out when it matters. It is a bit of a juggle, but it keeps life interesting for all of us here at the shop.
