Rathi Food Products

We make all our food products over in Warje Malwadi. The shop is on Lala Nigam Road, right near the Colaba Market at 77/7. It is a small place but it always smells like spices and fresh cooking. Rathi Food Products started out very small, just making a few things for the local neighbors, and it just sort of grew from there over time. We spend most of our time in the back where the actual work happens. There is a lot of grinding and mixing and checking the temperature of things. It is hot work, especially when the summer hits. We don't use a lot of big machines; a lot of the work is still done by hand. We pack everything up right here and send it out to the shops. The market nearby is always full of noise and people, which we actually like. It makes the day go by a lot faster. We aren't trying to be a big brand you see on TV or in magazines. We just want to make stuff that tastes right and doesn't have a lot of weird ingredients in it. People around Warje Malwadi have been buying from us for a long time. They know the family and they know how we work. We just keep the kitchen clean and the recipes exactly the same as they’ve always been. It is simple work, but it takes a lot of patience to get it right every single time we start a new batch.
