Ragini Pupet Show

Ragini Pupet Show is right here in Sneh Society at Rambaug Colony. We have been doing this for a while now, mostly around Kothrud Depot and Paud Road. It started out small because we just liked the idea of making figures move and telling stories. Most days you will find us at house number 14 working on new characters or fixing the old ones that got worn out from too many shows. It gets a bit crowded with all the strings and wooden pieces lying around. People often stop by when they see us carrying the stage out to the van in the morning. It is not a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s just a ground floor space where we keep everything organized the best we can. Sometimes the neighborhood kids peek in to see what we are painting or which puppet we are dressing up. We do local events and birthday parties mostly. It is a lot of manual work, packing and unpacking every single time. The puppets are heavy, and the curtains always need a good wash after a show. We just try to keep the tradition going without making it too complicated for ourselves. It’s a simple life, really. We know most of the shopkeepers around here. The tea stall guy knows when we have a big show because we order more cups than usual. That is how things go at Ragini Pupet Show. We are just local people doing something we enjoy in our own corner of Pune.
