Purohit Sweet

Mukund Nagar Main Road 12 is where you will find us, right where the traffic usually piles up in the evenings. It is a sweet shop, plain and simple. We have the usual rows of milk sweets and snacks in the display. The neon light in the window hums a little bit if you stand close enough to it. We spend a lot of time arranging the boxes and making sure the labels are straight, though they often get messed up when things get busy. The floor is tiled and we mop it a few times a day because people bring in dirt from the main road. It is not a very big space, so when four or five people come in at once, it feels full. We don't have a website or a social media manager. We just open the doors and see who comes in. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we have to wait around on the sidewalk. The neighbors are alright; we all kind of look out for each other on this stretch of the road. We don't use any fancy words to describe the food. It is just sweets like you find anywhere else, made the way we know how. If you are driving past Mukund Nagar, you might see us. We are just a regular part of the street, nothing more or less than that. There is always a lot of honking outside, but we are used to it.
