Our shop is over in Kakde Estate in the Kothrud area. It is a bit tucked away, but once you find the estate, we are right there in the row of shops. We have been here for a good while now, serving the people who live in the surrounding buildings. The shop is pretty basic. We have a couple of chairs, some mirrors, and a shelf for our clippers and sprays. It’s not one of those big salons you see in the malls. We prefer it this way. It’s easier to talk to people when it’s just a few of us in the room. We get a mix of people coming in, from young students to older retired men who live nearby. The shop has a big glass front, so we can see everyone walking by in the estate. We keep a few magazines on the table for people waiting, but they are usually a few months old. It doesn't seem to matter much to the regulars. We focus on giving a clean haircut and making sure people leave looking better than when they walked in. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving on those hot Pune afternoons.
