We are sitting right in the middle of Shukrawar Peth at number 4. Our shop is called Poonam Varieties for a reason, as we try to keep a little bit of everything on the shelves. It is one of those places where you might come in for one thing and end up seeing something else you forgot you needed. We have stuff like stationery, small household items, some toys, and seasonal goods that change depending on what festival is coming up next. The shop is quite packed, so we have to use every bit of space from the floor to the ceiling. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly where a specific item is buried, but we usually know where everything is. The neighborhood is very traditional and quite busy, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their shopping. We see kids coming in for school supplies and older folks looking for household bits and pieces. It is a friendly atmosphere, and we know most of our customers by their names or at least their faces. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon lights. It is just a regular shop with wooden shelves and a lot of stock. We have been here for years, and the routine stays pretty much the same. We open the shutters in the morning, sweep the front, and wait for the first customer of the day to walk in.
