Om Pappu Pan has been sitting here at Bibwewadi 569/1 for quite some time now. Most people know us as the small shop on the corner where you can get a good pan after dinner. It’s a simple setup with just enough space for the jars of ingredients and the leaves we keep fresh. Every morning we go to the market to pick out the best betel leaves we can find. If the leaves aren't right, the whole taste changes, so we are careful about that. We have regular customers who have been coming to us for years, and we usually know exactly what they want before they even say a word. It’s nice to have those kinds of relationships in the neighborhood. We stay open late because that is when most people are out for a walk or finished with their meals. The street gets a bit quieter at night, but our light is usually still on. We don’t do anything too fancy, just the traditional way of making pan that we learned a long time ago. Sometimes kids come by for sweets too. It’s a small life but it keeps us busy and connected to the people around Bibwewadi. We don't have a website or anything, just this physical shop where we spend our days and evenings talking to whoever stops by.
