New Apurvai Non Veg is over in Narayan Peth, specifically at Ved Road 270. We decided to focus on non-veg dishes because that’s what we enjoy cooking and eating the most. The shop is in an old part of the city, so the lanes are very narrow and parking is always a big headache for everyone who visits. Inside, it’s pretty basic. We have some heavy wooden benches and the walls are decorated with just a few old pictures from years ago. The kitchen is the main part of the place. You can usually hear the sound of the meat being prepared or the pressure cooker whistling from the back room. We get our meat fresh every morning from the local market nearby. If the quality of the meat isn't good that day, we just don't make those specific dishes. It’s better to skip it than serve something poor. Sometimes we have to close the doors early if we sell out of the main mutton curry. The spices we use are quite strong, so if you aren't used to it, your eyes might water a bit while you eat. It’s a bit of a rough-and-ready kind of place. We don't do any fancy plating or garnishes. You get your food on a simple plate with some sliced onions. Most of our customers are regulars who know us well. It’s loud and it’s spicy.
