Our place is out in Chincholi Morachi, specifically in the Ukirde Vasti area of Shirur. It is a very different setting compared to the city. We have a lot of open space and the main things you hear are the birds and the wind in the trees. The farm is where we spend all our time. We have a few simple buildings where people can sit and eat or stay for a bit. It is a working farm, so there is always some mud on the floor and tools leaning against the walls. We don't have fancy air conditioning or polished floors. Everything is made of stone, wood, and brick. People come here mostly to see the peacocks that wander around the village and to get away from the noise of the traffic. We serve simple food that we cook ourselves using what’s available from the local area. The evenings are very quiet here, and we usually sit outside on the porch once the work is done. It’s a lot of physical labor, keeping the grounds clean and taking care of the plants. Shirur can get quite hot in the summer, so we spend those afternoons in the shade of the big trees. We don’t have a big office or a reception desk. Usually, we just meet people at the gate when they arrive. It’s a basic, honest way of living and working on the land.
