Mangal Dhanya Bhandar

Mangal Dhanya Bhandar is located at 371 Nana Peth, right near the 1st Cross and Kalidasa Circle. We’ve been a part of this neighborhood for decades. The shop is filled with sacks of rice, wheat, and pulses. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside because we try to stock as much as possible. The air always smells like raw grain and jute bags. We spend our days weighing out portions for the people who live nearby. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bags and moving them around to keep the stock fresh. We don't have any modern technology here. We still use an old manual scale for some things and keep our accounts in big paper registers. Nana Peth is a very crowded area, and Kalidasa Circle is always a mess of traffic, but we like the energy of it. Sometimes we sit on the front step during a quiet moment and watch the people go by. My son helps me out in the evenings after he finishes his studies. We aren't looking to change anything or move to a bigger place. This shop has been enough for our family for a long time. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by name. It’s a simple, honest business. If you need grains, you know where to find us. We’ll be here serving the community as usual.
