Mamta Sweet Home

We have been sitting here in Aundh 1 for quite some time now. It is just a regular shop where we put out sweets every morning. The traffic outside is usually pretty loud, and sometimes the dust comes in if we leave the front open too wide. Most days start early because the milk arrives before the sun is really up. We don't have fancy decorations or anything like that. The glass cases have a few fingerprints on them by noon because kids like to point at the colored barfis. Some people come in just to ask for directions, and that is fine too. We have a small bench if someone needs to sit for a minute while we pack their order in those cardboard boxes. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit when it's on high speed, but it keeps the heat away. There’s a lot of routine to it, just making sure everything is fresh and the floor is swept. We don't really do big advertisements or anything. People just know we are here in the neighborhood. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by evening, and we just have to tell folks to come back tomorrow. It’s just how it goes in a small place like this. We try to keep things simple and just focus on getting the work done. Aundh 1 has changed a lot around us, but we just stay here doing the same thing every day.
