We’ve been here at S No 124 on the MIT campus for a while now. If you know Paud Road in Kothrud, you know it gets pretty busy with all the traffic and students walking around. Our building is right in the middle of it. Most days start early with people unlocking the labs and setting things up. It’s a pharmacy college, so there is always that specific smell of chemicals and old paper in the hallways. We see students hanging out near the entrance between their classes, probably talking about exams or just where they’re going to eat later. The staff room is usually a bit of a mess with notebooks and tea cups. It isn’t some fancy corporate office; it’s just a place where we get the work done. Kothrud has changed a lot, but this corner of the campus stays pretty much the same. You hear the bikes out on the main road and the bell ringing. We spend a lot of time making sure the lab equipment is working and the journals are updated. It’s just how it goes here. Sometimes the rains make the campus look nice, but mostly it’s just the usual heat. People come and go, some stay for years, and we just keep the place running day after day. It’s a local spot that’s been part of the landscape for as long as I can remember. It gets a bit hectic during admission time, but we manage.
