Jay Ganesh Decorators & Lights

The office for Jay Ganesh Decorators & Lights is over in Karve Nagar at B/5. It is a busy little corner of the world. If you come by, you’ll see a lot of fabric, strings of lights, and wooden frames stacked up. It’s not a very tidy place, but we know where everything is. Decorating is a lot of physical work, so we are often out on-site rather than sitting at the desks. When we are in, it’s mostly to count the bulbs or check the drapes for tears. Karve Nagar has grown a lot, and we’ve seen the shops change around us. We’ve stayed in the same spot though. Lighting is tricky because something is always burning out or getting tangled. We spend a lot of time just untangling wires while listening to the radio. It’s not the kind of thing they put in a brochure, but it’s the truth of the work. Our neighbors at B/5 are used to us moving big ladders in and out at odd hours. We try to be quiet, but sometimes a metal pole drops and makes a clang. It’s just how it goes. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just take the orders, load the truck, and try to make things look nice for the customers. It’s a simple life, really. The summer heat makes the warehouse part get really stuffy, so we usually keep the big door open to get a breeze.
