Mishrilal Fulchand Lalwani

Our business, Mishrilal Fulchand Lalwani, is right in the middle of the Market Yard in Gultekdi. If you know the Pune area, you know that this market is the heart of the local trade. We are at 312/466 and it is a very busy spot to be in. Our days start extremely early, often while it is still dark outside. That is when the first trucks arrive and the whole yard wakes up with a bang. There is a lot of shouting, heavy lifting, and the smell of fresh produce or grain everywhere. Our shop is a practical place, usually filled with stacks of bags and old account books. We don't have air conditioning or fancy chairs. We spend most of the day on our feet talking to the farmers and other traders who come through. We have been in Gultekdi for a very long time, so we have seen the market change over the decades. Most of our customers are people we have known for years, and we do most of our business with a simple handshake and a cup of chai. It is a tough environment with all the dust and the noise, but we are used to it by now. By the time the afternoon sun is high, we are usually starting to wrap things up for the day. We just try to keep things honest and keep the trade moving as it always has.
