Gayatri Textiles

Our shop, Gayatri Textiles, is at No. 32 in the Maharashtraatma Gandhi Market at Kings Circle. It’s a classic market spot, so it’s pretty compact and always has people walking by. We’ve got rolls of cloth stacked up all the way to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a maze inside if you don't know where things are kept. We spend most of our time helping people find the right fabric or measuring out meters of cloth on the counter. The market gets very busy on the weekends, so we usually don't have much time to sit down then. We aren't doing anything high-tech or modern. It’s just traditional textile selling, the way it’s been done here for ages. We know our regulars and we know which fabrics are popular this month. The lighting in the market isn't always the best, so we often take the cloth out to the front to show the colors in the natural light. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know our way around a measuring tape. It's a bit cramped and the fans sometimes squeak, but it's our place. We just focus on the textiles and making sure we have what people are looking for when they walk in. It's practical work and we've been at Kings Circle long enough to feel at home. It is a simple life here.
