Fresh Puran Poli

We are located at Office No 102 in Vasant Plaza, right on Tilak Road in Sadashiv Peth. If you know Pune, you know Sadashiv Peth is the heart of the old city. Our place, Fresh Puran Poli, is all about that traditional taste. The smell of roasted chana dal and cardamom usually drifts out into the hallway of the plaza. It’s not a big fancy restaurant, just a practical space where we prepare everything. We spend our mornings getting the dough ready and cooking the sweet filling until it’s just right. Tilak Road is always busy, so there’s a lot of noise from the buses and scooters outside, but inside we are focused on the griddle. It’s a lot of work to make puran poli the right way, especially keeping it soft. We have a small staff and we all know our roles. Some days the orders are so many that we barely have time to sit down, especially during festivals. Vasant Plaza has a lot of other businesses, but people usually find their way to us because of the smell. We don't use any fancy machines to do the rolling; it’s mostly done by hand because that’s how it tastes best. We aren't trying to change the recipe or do anything modern. We just want to make something that reminds people of what their grandmother used to make at home. It’s simple, honest food for the people here.
