Running a lawn and hall in Bhugaon is a lot different than a restaurant. Out here, near Hotel Green Villa, we have more space but also more things that can go wrong with the weather. Most of our work happens on weekends when people have their weddings or big family parties. During the week, it’s mostly just us cutting the grass or fixing the lights that broke during the last event. It gets very quiet out here when there isn't a function going on. We have to keep the lawn looking decent, which is hard when the sun is really beating down in the summer. When a wedding is actually happening, the whole place transforms. There are people everywhere, kids running around the grass, and a lot of loud music. We stay in the background making sure the generator is fueled up and that the water supply is working fine. Sometimes the caterers leave a mess and we have to spend the whole next day cleaning it up before the next group arrives. It’s a 411042 area code kind of life, a bit away from the main city rush but still busy enough. We don't do much advertising. People just see the sign or hear about us from their cousins. It’s a practical business. We provide the space and the roof, and the families bring the life to it. That's just how it works here and we enjoy the process.
