Drushtikcon architects and co related concern Pune is based in Shanwar Peth, which is one of those old, heart-of-the-city kind of places. Our office is in Ankur Co-operative Society on the fifth floor. It’s a bit of a walk up if the power is out, but we don't mind. Being in Mehunpura means we are surrounded by the history of Pune, which is quite a contrast to the modern buildings we sometimes design. The office is a bit cramped because we keep every drawing we’ve ever made, or at least it feels that way. We aren't much for modern office decor; we just have what we need to get the job done. There is usually a lot of chatter going on about different projects or someone complaining about the narrow lanes and the parking situation outside. It is a very traditional neighborhood, and our work style reflects that in a way—we just keep things straightforward and honest. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just draw plans and talk to people about their buildings. Sometimes we stay late when a project is due, and the view of the city lights from the window is the only quiet thing about the place. It is a busy, slightly chaotic environment, but we wouldn't really want to be anywhere else. We just do our best with the space and time we have.
