If you head down toward the Kothrud Depot in Pune, you will find our office right there. If you know that area, you know how busy it gets with all the buses coming and going at all hours. It is a noisy part of town but we have gotten used to the sound of the engines and the people shouting outside the window. The space we have here at Archland is filled with old metal cabinets and wooden shelves that are sagging under the weight of all the files we have kept over the years. We probably should throw some of it out but you never know when you will need to look at an old drawing from a decade ago. There are usually four or five of us in the room at any time. We do not have a fancy reception desk or anyone to greet you; you just kind of walk in and see us working at the tables. The desks are covered in pens, half-eaten packets of biscuits, and various rolls of tracing paper that never stay rolled up. Pune 38 is a good enough spot to be, even with the traffic. We spend most of the morning just catching up on emails and the afternoons are for the actual design work. Sometimes we go out to sites, but mostly we are right here at the computers. The lighting in here is a bit dim because one of the overhead bulbs has been flickering.
