Balaji Rice Processing Unit

Our Balaji Rice Processing Unit is located at Plot No-2 in Swami Vivekanand Nagar. We are over in the Hatture Wasti area, right on Madre Road. Being so close to the airport means we hear planes taking off all day long. It’s a busy part of town and there’s always something going on. We spend most of our time here processing rice, which is loud work already, so the planes don't bother us much. The unit isn't huge, but we have enough room for our equipment and the raw grain we bring in. We’ve had this spot for a few years and have slowly gotten things organized. My uncle started this and now I’m helping him run the daily stuff. We see a lot of trucks coming and going on Madre Road. It gets quite hot inside the unit when the machines are running full speed. We wear old clothes because everything gets covered in rice husks eventually. We don't have a fancy website or a big front desk. If someone wants to talk to us, they just come to the gate. We work long hours during the harvest season. It’s just how it is in this business. We try to keep the rice clean and move the bags out as fast as we can to make room for more grain. It’s a hard way to earn a living but it keeps us busy and connected to the farmers in the region. We just keep working.
