Annapurna Khanawal

Annapurna Khanawal is tucked away at 1404 Bajirao Road in the Shukrawar Peth area of Pune. This is an old part of the city, and we’ve tried to keep that traditional feeling in what we do. A khanawal is a specific kind of place, mostly for people who want a real home-style meal like they would get in a Maharashtrian house. We aren't a fast-food joint or a fancy cafe. We are just a simple place in 411002 where you can get a thali and a bit of peace. Bajirao Road is usually quite loud with all the bikes and buses, but once you step inside, it’s all about the food. We don't spend money on decorating with modern things. We just have basic tables and a kitchen that knows what it’s doing. Most of our regulars are people who work in the Peth area or students who miss their mother’s cooking. We buy our vegetables from the local markets nearby every morning. We don't have a big menu that changes all the time. We stick to the classics that we know how to make well. It is a small team here, and we all do a bit of everything, from cleaning to serving. We don't use any corporate slogans. We just want to make sure that when you leave, you aren't hungry anymore and you feel like you had a proper meal.
