Ananda Garden

You will find us over at 48 Vishrantwadi on Gotri Road in Vadodara. This area has changed a lot over the years, with more buildings going up around us. We have a bit of outdoor space here, which is why we call it a garden. We spend a good chunk of our mornings watering the plants and making sure the grass doesn't look too dry under the Gujarat sun. It’s quite a task during the summer months when everything wants to turn brown. The restaurant itself is a bit away from the main noise of the city, though Gotri Road still gets its fair share of cars and bikes. We set up the tables and chairs outside so people can sit in the open air when the weather allows for it. Sometimes the wind kicks up some dust, but we just wipe things down and keep going. We don't have any big fancy signs or bright lights. It's mostly just the trees and the open sky. In the evenings, we turn on some basic lights so people can see what they are eating. It’s a relaxed kind of place where we don't rush anyone. We have a small kitchen staff who have been with us for a while. We all know our jobs and just get on with it without much fuss. It feels like a quiet corner compared to the rest of Vadodara, and we like it that way even if it means more work keeping the garden looking decent.
