Akshay Electronics & Gauri Sound Service

We are located over at Koregaon Park 15. This place is usually a mix of old television sets waiting for repairs and large speakers stacked up for the next event. I handle the electronics part, mostly fixing boards and soldering connections that have come loose over time. My partner deals with the sound service side, which means he is usually out setting up microphones and mixers for public talks or small parties. When we test the speakers in the shop, it can get pretty loud, so we try not to do it too early in the morning out of respect for the neighbors. We’ve got shelves full of spare capacitors, remote controls, and various cables that I’ve collected over the years. It’s a bit of a maze in here sometimes. People bring in all sorts of gadgets, some so old I have to hunt around for parts that aren't even made anymore. It takes a bit of patience to figure out why a circuit isn't working right. We don't have a big storefront with neon signs; it’s more of a workshop where we actually get our hands dirty fixing things. Being in Koregaon Park, we get a lot of different requests, from fixing a simple radio to setting up a whole sound system for a community gathering. It keeps the days interesting and the work never really stops for us. We just take it one day at a time and try to fix whatever comes through the door.
