Akshay Caterers is tucked away in Canal Lane No 3, over in Chava Colony. We are at S No 8/7/1 in Karve Nagar. It is a busy area, but our spot is a bit more quiet. We’ve been operating from this location for quite a few years now. It’s not a big storefront with glass windows. It’s more of a functional space where we get the cooking done. We handle everything from small birthday parties to the bigger wedding events that happen around here. My brother and I started this because there was always a need for decent food at events. We don’t use any fancy machines, just big pots and a lot of manual labor. The mornings start really early, usually before the sun is even up, so we can get to the market. Then it’s hours of chopping and stirring. It’s tough work and your back hurts by the end of the day. But we have a good rhythm going now. We know the regular customers in the colony and they know us. We don’t do any of that modern marketing stuff. If the food tastes like home, people are happy. That’s the main thing we worry about. The shop can get a bit cluttered with all the big metal containers and gas cylinders. It’s a real working kitchen. We just stay focused on the next order and making sure we don’t run out of ingredients before the lunch rush starts.
