Akash Sound Service

Akash Sound Service is tucked away on Tadiwala Road, and we also spend a lot of time near the Vatva GIDC Road area. If you come by, you’ll see speakers of all sizes piled up against the walls. Some are for small indoor parties and others are the big ones that can make your whole house shake. We spend a lot of our time untangling long black cables and testing microphones. It’s a loud job, and sometimes our ears ring after we come back from a gig late at night. The warehouse is a bit of a mess, with amplifiers and mixers everywhere, but we have a system for finding what we need. We do a lot of lifting, moving these heavy wooden boxes in and out of the van. The dust from the GIDC road gets on everything, so we are always wiping down the gear. It isn’t a glamorous business, and we are often working when everyone else is celebrating, like at weddings or local festivals. We don’t have a big office, just a small desk with a lot of old notebooks where we write down the bookings. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we have to spend hours with a soldering iron trying to find the loose wire. It’s just us and the sound of the bass. We have been doing this for long enough that we can tell if a speaker is blown just by the smell of the coil.
