Dashmesh Khalsa Sen.Sec.School Badshahpur is located in the Ugoke area of Badshahpur, out in the Patiala district. It’s a senior secondary school, so we have the older students here getting ready for their exams and figuring out what to do next. The school has a long history in this part of the country. It’s a fairly large building because we need the space for all the different subjects we offer. You’ll see a lot of bicycles parked outside because that’s how most of the students get here from the surrounding villages. The halls are usually full of teenagers rushing to their next class. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We use ceiling fans and keep the windows open. The grounds are mostly dirt and grass where the kids play sports in the afternoons. Our staff consists of people who have been teaching in the Patiala area for a long time. We don't spend money on big advertisements. We just focus on the daily classes and making sure the exams are conducted properly. It can be a bit of a grind during the busy season, but we just take it one day at a time. It’s a solid, no-nonsense school for the families living around Badshahpur. We keep the gates open for anyone from the village who needs to talk about their kids.
