Asra College of Education sits right on Sangrur Road in Patiala. If you’re heading out of the city toward the 147001 area, you can’t miss us. It’s a place where we train people who want to become teachers. The campus isn't huge, but it gets the job done. We have a lot of students coming in every day, mostly from the nearby towns. The atmosphere is usually pretty focused since everyone is busy with their lesson plans and exams. You’ll see people sitting on the benches outside talking about their teaching practice sessions. We try to keep things simple here. The offices are always full of papers and books piled up on the desks. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with so much material. The tea stall nearby is where most of us end up during the afternoon break. It’s a good way to catch some air away from the classrooms. The traffic on Sangrur Road can be a bit loud, but once you get inside the gates, it settles down some. We aren't doing anything fancy or revolutionary, just helping folks get their degrees so they can go out and teach in the schools around Punjab. It’s steady work and we like the people we meet. Every year a new batch arrives and we start the whole process over again. It keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty quickly.
