In Uttar Durgapur, things move at a steady pace. We started this group because the women in our village needed a way to handle our production work together. We are located near the Bhajna Benepara area, which is under the Dhola Hat police station in the Kakdwip block. Most of us here have houses nearby and we meet up to get the work done. It is a primary producer group, so we are doing the basic stuff right from the start. Kakdwip is a busy area, but our village stays focused on its own tasks. We don't have a fancy office building. We just use the space we have in Uttar Durgapur. Sometimes it is hard to balance our home life with the work we do here, but we support each other. If one person is falling behind, someone else steps in to help. It is an honest way to work. We deal with whatever products we are making and try to keep things organized. No one is the big boss here; we just all know what our jobs are. It’s about being practical and making sure the production keeps moving so we can help our families. Living in this part of South 24 Parganas means we are used to working through all kinds of seasons. We just keep our heads down and do the daily chores that need doing. It’s a simple life.
