Baghmari Farmer Producer Company Limited is a local group from the village of Baghmari near Egra. You can find us at Sanjeeb Pramanik’s place. Most of us in this company have lived in this area our whole lives. We know which fields get flooded first and which ones stay dry too long. We started this because we wanted a better way to work together as a community. Farming is getting harder every year with the costs going up and the weather being so unpredictable. We spend our days out in the dirt, making sure the plants are growing right. We aren't experts with degrees; we just have the knowledge passed down from our fathers and grandfathers. Our office is just a simple space in the village where we gather to plan our next steps. We talk about what to plant next season and how to get the best seeds for our money. There is no corporate polish here. We speak plainly and we work hard. Sometimes the work is exhausting, especially during the peak harvest times when we are out there for twelve hours straight. But this is the life we know in Baghmari. We just want to keep our farms running so we can take care of our homes. It’s about being practical and helping each other out when things get tough. We just take it one day at a time, season after season, without any fuss.
