Our spot is 3-53Apathanandayapalem in Karla Palem. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say, but it’s home for us. We handle both vegetables and flowers here. The flowers make the place smell much better than your average warehouse, though the vegetables can get a bit earthy. We work out of a plain building that doesn't have any air conditioning. We just leave the doors open to let the air circulate. The Karla Palem area is quite rural, so we see more cows than cars most days. We spend a lot of our time sorting through petals and produce. It’s a lot of manual labor, bending over crates and checking for quality. Our staff are just local people from the village. We sit around and talk about the prices and the weather while we work. The floors are concrete and usually covered in bits of leaves or stems. We have a small radio that plays local songs in the background. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We don’t have fancy brochures or a marketing department. We just have the flowers and the vegetables. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late because the road is narrow, and we just have to wait. We use a lot of plastic buckets and old crates to keep things organized. It’s a bit messy, but it’s how we get things done every day in Apathanandayapalem.
