Kalpatru Poweronics

Kalpatru Poweronics is located right near Gandhi Murti. If you know this part of town, you know it's a big landmark where everyone meets up or waits for a bus. We work with power equipment and electrical stuff mostly, which means we deal with a lot of heavy things. It isn't a very glamorous job, mostly moving big batteries around or checking thick wires all day long. The shop gets quite warm in the summer because of all the machines we have running in the back. We’ve been at this spot for some time now and have seen many changes in the neighborhood. You can see the statue of Gandhi right from our front door. Sometimes the traffic at the intersection is a real mess and we just watch it from our stools while we wait for deliveries to arrive. We have shelves full of parts and tools that probably look like a mess to outsiders, but we know where everything is kept. It’s mostly just us and a couple of guys who help out with the heavy lifting and repairs. We drink a lot of tea while we talk to people about their power backups and generators. Some folks come in with old batteries that are leaking and we have to be careful handling those. It's a practical business without any frills. We don't have fancy decorations on the walls, just some old calendars and a clock. We open early because that's when the work starts. Gandhi Murti is a busy spot so there is always something happening.
