O. K. Masala Company

You can find O. K. Masala Company at C-8 in the Lawrence Road Industrial Area. It’s a busy industrial zone, so there are always trucks and tempos moving around our gates. We have been here for a long time, grinding and mixing spices. The building itself is an industrial shed where we have all our grinding machines set up. When the machines are running, the whole place vibrates a little, and the smell of roasted spices is everywhere. It’s a very physical job. We have guys who spend their whole shift monitoring the grinders to make sure the powder is fine enough. We don't have a polished showroom; if you come to visit, you’ll likely see sacks of raw chilies or coriander seeds piled up in the corner. We focus on getting the blends right because that’s what people expect from us. Lawrence Road is a good spot for us because it’s easy to get the deliveries out to the rest of the city. The office is just a small cabin near the entrance where we keep the ledger books and answer the phone. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just make the masala, pack it into bags, and send it out to the shops. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing for years, which is processing spices. It can get loud with the machines but it's a rhythm we know well. Most of the staff lives nearby.
