Unikue Handicrafts

Up here on the first floor at 6353 Street Iswari Parsad, things stay pretty busy. Being in Bara Hindu Rao means there’s always a lot of shouting and moving around in the lanes below us. We spend our days surrounded by all sorts of materials. There’s usually dust on the tables and the smell of whatever we’re working on that day. We aren’t some big factory with machines doing everything. Most of it is just hands moving, fixing things, and making sure the crafts look like they’re supposed to. It gets a bit crowded in here when a new shipment of raw materials arrives, and we have to step over boxes to get to the back. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s more of a workspace where the real work happens. Sometimes a piece doesn’t come out right and we have to start over, which is frustrating but it’s just part of the job. The light in here isn’t the best on cloudy days, but we have enough lamps to see what we’re doing. We’ve known the other shopkeepers on this street for years. It’s a tight-knit place. We just focus on getting the orders ready and sent out to whoever is waiting for them. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied from morning until the sun goes down and we lock up the shutters for the night. We've been doing this for a long time and just take it one day at a time.
