If you’ve ever been down Charan Dass Street in Hauz Qazi, you know how tight those lanes are. Our shop is at 3219, and it’s packed to the ceiling with stuff. Hauz Qazi is the heart of the hardware market in Delhi, so it’s always crowded and loud. We do a lot of impex work, mostly bringing things in and sending them out to different parts of the country. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’ve been in this street for longer than I can remember. The building is old, with those narrow stairs that make moving heavy boxes a real workout. We don't have much room for a fancy office, so we just sit among the stock and handle the customers. Most of the people we deal with are regular buyers who have been coming to us for years. They know the address and they know we usually have what they’re looking for. It’s not the easiest place to work because of the heat and the crowds, but it’s where the business is. We spend our mornings sorting through the new arrivals and our afternoons getting orders ready for the rickshaws to take to the station. It’s a constant cycle of lifting, counting, and shouting over the noise of the market. That is just how life goes here on Charan Dass Street every single day.
