Sunil Handicrafts

Sunil Handicrafts is tucked away at 1897, Gali Lehswa Kucha Pati Ram, in the Bazar Sita Ram area. Finding us can be a bit of an adventure if you aren't familiar with the narrow lanes of the old city. The gali is thin, and you have to watch your step with all the cycles and people moving past. Our workspace is small and filled to the ceiling with various handcrafted items. It smells like wood and old fabric. We don't have a big storefront with glass windows. It’s more of a traditional workshop where we spend our time making and fixing things. The light comes in from a small courtyard, and we often sit on the floor to work because it’s more comfortable for what we do. Bazar Sita Ram is a place with so much history, and you can feel it in the walls of our building. We aren't interested in being a big modern factory. We like the slow way of doing things, one piece at a time. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just take a break until it comes back. We don't have a marketing strategy. People find us because they’ve heard about our work from someone else. It’s a humble way to live, but it’s what we know. We just focus on our crafts and let the world go by outside our narrow gali.
